This may have come up before but I searched and couldn't find anything.

I've been trying to create a maint record at Ford.com. I've done it couple times in the past with no problem. This time, everything seems OK -- I fill in all of the required info -- but when I click submit I see this:

Ford Bronco Sport Attempting to add an oil change record at Ford.com 1743040686987-k9

Sometimes the 'submit' button is greyed out, so I don't get to the error message.

Any suggestions or advice?

I didn’t follow any instructions but created this Service record and the Save button is not grayed out.. I’m using an iPhone with FordPass version v5.15.0 if that helps.

So all I need is a $1,200 iPhone?

I'm glad to see that it worked that way. I have an uncool Motorola phone. If I have to do it that way I can, but I much prefer my laptop. The Moto X just sits here 99% of the time. I primarily use it for 2-factor authentication.

There are instructions at the link above for using a PC, so near as I can tell it should work.

I guess it doesn't really matter. It's not as if creating a record of each oil change is rock solid proof it was actually done. I do like the idea of having the maint records all in one place though.

If you have FordPass app on your Moto X try creating the maintenance record

OK, I pecked out everything on the tiny keyboard and...drumroll...

Same result. I accepts all the info but when I click 'Send' I get the error message.

My FordPass App shows “Save” not “Send”

You are using FordPass app right and not the link to a Ford website? Which version of the FordPass app?

I have a file folder in my cabinet for each of my vehicles. Right on the front of the folder, I drew up a form that lists any service I do with the date and mileage. It includes oil & filter changes, but also other things like tire rotation, new wipers or air filter, factory recalls, state inspections etc. This gives me a quick reference for ANY questions I have about mileage intervals on my OBX.

Great practice Mike.

I probably shouldn't be so obsessed with the maint records on Ford.com -- I mainly see it as a record for warranty purposes. Of course, it's not proof of service, owners can claim anything they want. Ford even requires owners to check a box acknowledging that. Still, it is a record that they have easy access to. It's in the 'can't hurt' category.

For decades I've been in the habit of saving used oil filters. They are very difficult for a mfr/dealer to disregard. I'm doing that with the Badlands.

They say I'm crazy, but I'll show 'em! I'll show 'em ALL!

Seriously, many owners, including myself, are hyper-focused on oil changes when in reality most engines continue to run fine long after the vehicle is falling apart. There are an almost infinite number of forum threads about: types of oil; brands of filters; and frequency of oil changes. In reality, absent gross negligence, almost all engines will be about the last thing to go on any vehicle -- regardless of the brand of oil & filters.

You are allowed to save records in any reasonable manner

I use an excel spreadsheet because it’s easy to calculate miles and months between services, to keep track of what future services are needed and at what timeframe. Works for me.

I realize that, but thank you. As I said above:

I like the idea of keeping maint records on the Ford website -- in addition to any other method -- but I'm not gonna lose sleep over it.

It does seem odd that I was able to post records there twice before but not now.

I found this thread over on the Maverick forum. It describes the exact issue I've been having:
https://www.mavericktruckclub.com/forum/threads/unable-to-add-a-record-to-your-fordpass-service-history.56689/

The problem is with the "Notes" section. It is very picky about how info is entered. The easiest thing to do is not use it. I experimented and got it to accept this:

"Motorcraft FL910S filter. 100% synthetic oil. 5W-30. API-SP."

One line, single spaces between sentences.

NOTE: There were several mentions of the FordPass app not allowing maint record entries. Apparently Ford eliminated that feature, so all records must be entered using a computer. That doesn't hurt my feelings, but it seems strange that Ford removed that function from the app.

Anyway, mystery solved, software bugs remain.

Adding maintenance records (add service history) feature was restored in FordPass App Version 5.9.0 (iPhone, I am not sure about Android)
