Ford Bronco Sport [POLL] Speedometer Squabble! angry-porotestors-edited

Oh we got a barn burner in one of the other threads on here. Some people were complaining about the digital speedometer hurting their eyes. Others think the analog speedometer is pointless since the digital one tells you everything you need to know. Still others think it's nice to have both. Do we care? Does this matter? Is this all just a metaphor for where we are currently as a society?

The Bronco Sport is about fun. What’s more fun for your instrument cluster than to have gauges and dials on you speedometer and tach. Watch that red line! Numbers are so boring. Let’s have fun out there.
In case you are wondering how I voted, feel free to guess.

I actually really love having the digital one because it's a quicker glance and thus more focus kept on the road. However, technology isn't always the most reliable, so I believe having the digital version in tandem with the analog speedometer is best practice.

All the crap going on in the world today and we can only complain about a dash display?
In reality this forum has complaints galore? Just another observation about peoples preferences, no harm no foul.

In terms of preference people can have a preference. I greatly prefer the digital speedometer for ease of checking my speed at a glance rather than having to position it relative to the gauge. However, I think for those who prefer analog, Ford should have an option to disable it.

In terms of accuracy, both the digital speedo and the analog are being driven digitally. I encountered this on the NJ Turnpike in my 2015 Ford Fusion. Both screens turned black, then white, and the needle went gray and dipped to zero before starting "the walk" (zero to max speed reading, back to zero, then actual speed) while I was doing ~70mph... your analog needle is following the same computer as the screen, neither is more or less accurate than the other, it's just personal preference.

I like having both, although I must say that I don't have the digital one displayed most of the time. I prefer to have the fuel mileage and distance to empty displayed on my Big Bend's display. Cheers!

I have both ... and depends what display mode I chose. (Outer Banks with extra packages) Never thought that this could be an issue with some at all. However, trying to remember, I think I find myself looking at the digital one more / first.
I've also seen other Broncos with completely different dashboards / displays that don't resemble mine ... therefore we might talk about different things here.
Cheers

Underneath it all, the Bronco Sport is an Escape [pun intended].

My last ride had an analog speedo and that was it. I added a Garmin GPS which had a digital one. Over time, I found myself checking the Garmin speed more often than the analog. Both are easy enough to read, but the digital one also showed the expected speed limit and if you were going too fast it displays a warning by changing colors. Accuracy is a wash unless for some reason the GPS totally loses signal (big tunnels). How does the digital one especially hurt someone's eyes? The whole car is screen dependent.
The digital does have one distinct advantage- If you don't like it, it can be turned off. You would have to break/disable the analog one to do that.

I grew up driving 50's, 60's and 70's cars mostly. They were analog. The good ones had full package guages. At a glance, I would look at the position of the needle, and knew all was good with water temp, oil pressure, and battery charging. Today's digital readout has to make one think a second or two to define that "14 volts is decent electrical charging, or that 20 pounds (at idle perhaps) is good oil pressure. Once you drive with these gauges, you get used to it.

An old mans perspective. Still enjoy a romp in the 67 Camaro.

I use the same display.

I don't see the point of having both up there. And maybe I'm used to the speedometer in my Accord but I feel I can't just glance at the BS one. I have to kind of wait a bit and figure it out. Probably has to do with 160k miles in my Accord vs 1,200 in the BS.
